America's hypocrisy is destroying America. America is hypocritical in both what it says and what it does. It professes to be a Christian nation and falls far short. America's Declaration of Independence declares our belief in God and the inalienable rights given us by God. If we believe God grants us our inalienable rights those rights can not be taken away. Especially those rights and obligations under the law. Based on that understanding the following statements may explain why America finds itself in the situation it is now in. That being said I will and must quote the Bible as the source of the statements I am making. You may disagree with my understanding of what I believe the Bible says. However if you are a Christian you have to agree with God and that is not conditional.
As the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are the documents that define America as a country they hold the truths Americans should agree to and live by. The Declaration of Independence states clearly if and when our government goes against our beliefs as a nation. We not only have a right but a duty to disband our government and reform it in accordance with the will of the citizens. Yes it says that. Just read it. Let me give a couple examples of how America has come up short of what it says it professes.
If God said we can do something it is our inalienable right. At least that is the way I read it. This may get deep and you may say this guy is nuts. That is okay, but at least read it through and think about what I am saying before throwing me to the wolves. It is not my goal to make this a Bible study, but when you are quoting God it is a good way to show God said it and not me. So here goes but, First let me make a disclaimer. I do not smoke, drink or do drugs and am 65 + years old. If I had a terminal illness I would do whatever it takes to ease the pain. Yes I am a wuss, but I think that is why God put the plants that do relieve pain here. He knew what they were capable of. He created them, DUH!
Genesis 1:29-30 says God gave "every" herb bearing seed for man and animals to use. Notice it did not say there were exceptions. It is a God given right. Our government says we have all God given rights, but in the same breath they make many herbs illegal to consume. Either you agree with God or you do not. It is my belief God knew and knows the use every plant is capable of being used for. Yes even the ones that can be used as drugs. It is also my belief he had a purpose in creating those plants. The purpose was for man to use them to ease his suffering when he is sick and especially when he has a terminal illness. However because of the governments hypocrisy one can not use those drugs without risking fines or incarceration.
It is total hypocrisy for the government to legislate what is right and what is wrong. They give preferential treatment to certain drugs such as alcohol, tobacco, coffee and even sugar. Yes sugar can be addictive and deadly to the human body when consumed improperly. Yet those last four items are not illegal, at least not yet. I would like you to think about what I am about to say. If the government legalized drugs tomorrow would you rush out and do them. Is the fact that they are illegal the only reason you do not use them. Then you have really weak moral values. Your body is a temple according to the Bible and it should not be polluted. Not by drugs, not by alcohol, not by tobacco and not by gluttony which is wrong according to the Bible. The fact that drugs are illegal is not stopping people. It is only turning them into a class of citizens that hide what they do and live a double life in many cases.
Many addicts need help and treatment not incarceration. Meth is a perfect example of the problem. When I was stationed in Panama if you needed a drug for whatever reason you could get it. As long as you could say the name in Spanish and put the money on the counter it was yours. Was it legal. I do not know Panamanian law, but I do know many soldiers were amphetamine junkies. Which is a medical form of meth. I also know that the people who used it did not rob people to get it. They did not risk losing their life polluting their systems with who knows what. That is not the case with street drugs. Which are cut with who knows what to make them go farther. Just so the dealer can maximize his profits. Even if they kill a few people. The indifference to the value of the lives of users is what irks me. Junkies are people, and sometimes people with problems, but they do not count as being of value in this society. That is not a Christian attitude I am sure.
The other side of the hypocrisy is manifested in the fact that if a person has a terminal illness he can not self medicate himself. He is obligated to go through the medical system which in conjunction with the insurance companies have developed a system of stripping individuals of their life savings and their dignity. I have always felt if I had a terminal illness I would let it run its course. I do not believe it has been proven that radiation and chemo therapy have saved anyone. All it does is enrich the doctors and the insurance companies. It has definitely made a lot of people rich. People submit to it because they do not desire to suffer. I have seen people go through it and would rather just medicate myself till I die. They should not have to suffer but moral hypocrites that think they are making America a better place to live are killing innocent people after robbing them and making them suffer. There are God given treatments that cost virtually nothing, especially if grown by the suffering person. However that is illegal. Native Americans suffer the same discrimination. They had used herbs in ceremonies for centuries. Even before the white man came on the scene. However with the stroke of a pen those rights were taken away. Things are turning around in this area though as 34% of the states have or are considering medical marijuana use. Colorado is already generating taxes and setting up programs to run it. Of course the Federal government is saying they can't do it. The Constitution says all rights not given to the Federal Government belong to the states. I do not see anywhere that it says it is illegal. I have never read of anyone tearing up the plants on Washington and Jefferson's plantations. They both grew hemp it is documented in their journals.
So now our government spends billions of dollars trying to kill God given plants. They are failing and it is tearing America apart. Millions of people are in jail and addicted to drugs because of failed government regulations. Legalization would allow taxation and hopefully end many of the needless deaths that occur every year. Deaths from drugs contaminated by dealers strictly interested in their profits.
During the 1920's America tried an experiment in legislating morality and it failed. Anytime hypocrisy shows its face the devil has a field day. I do not have to tell anyone the stories of the the bootleggers or the rum runners. It is a part of American history that has been glamorized and exploited in the media. With the fall or end of prohibition the people who were making illegal income simply changed occupations. They went from alcohol to drugs. The income tax was passed to free the government from dependence on alcohol taxes. When prohibition ended they got the alcohol tax money back and then kept the income tax. Bend over America.
Another area of hypocrisy is abortion in America. Killing unborn children whom the Bible says God knew while they were still in the womb. This problem is created by a permissive society lacking the moral conviction to believe in abstinence. Society will not condemn promiscuity. We live in a society that says if it feels good do it. That is not the society the Bible advocates. It is certainly not a Christian one, though millions of professing Christians find no fault with living with some one outside the bonds of marriage. I have my short comings and I am not saying I am perfect, however I do not say it is right to do what ever I want. When you say one thing and do another. That is the definition of hypocrisy. The Bible makes clear what God thinks of people who sacrifice children to their Gods, whether their God is a job, a house, a car or just doing what they want to do and blowing God off. The following quote is harsh but it sure condemns the attitudes common in America today. In a so called Christian and God loving nation. Chapter 20 in Leviticus tells us,
" And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones. 3And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name. 4And if the people of the land do any ways hide their eyes from the man, when he giveth of his seed unto Molech, and kill him not: 5Then I will set my face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go a whoring after him, to commit whoredom with Molech, from among their people. 6And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people. 7Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God. 8And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I am the LORD which sanctify you. 9For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him."
You have to decide if God will overlook the issue. I do not think he will. I think it is a judgement that is coming on America. That is just my opinion. The final issue I will deal with is that of capital punishment. Is it right or is it wrong. Jesus suffered capital punishment and he did not say, "Hey you do not have the right to do this. He endured it that others might be saved." Yes now I am getting preachy, but Genesis 9:6 says very clearly,"any man that takes a life, his should be required of him." There is no justice in America anymore. People who commit murder live out their lives behind bars and not only deprive their victims of their lives, but deprive America of justice. While our legal system, unwilling to do its duty, places a burden on society. At the same time it provides healthcare for people in prison. It will not give it to its honest and hard working citizens. It wastes billions and trillions on wars, restrictive regulations. The government bails out financial thieves and corporate incompetents and places the burden to do so on the citizens who are simply trying to survive. Simultaneously forfeiting the future of America with reckless and irresponsible spending programs.
America loves to call itself a Christian nation. When it started it embedded injustice right in its Constitution. I understand why and I know the cost paid to form this nation was worth it. If a compromise had not been made and blacks had not been made only three fifths of a person. There may not have been an America. That compromise was paid for with the blood of over half a million American lives. The Founding Fathers knew that America would have the fortitude to correct the problem and were willing to risk it to form a nation. Jesus said his people would come together and a nation would rise up. It did at a high cost. This may sound coarse, but I believe it to be true. He said it would be of all kindreds and tongues. Slavery was a horrible thing and I do not condone it or believe in it, but it served a purpose. When Africa had no nations to bring people to America he bought them just as he said he would. What I would like to see is those people rise up and make this nation live the life it professes to believe in. They should get active as our President did and not only believe in the dream but help share it with their forefathers in their home lands. I am not saying they should go back to Africa, but they could see we send some aid there. Especially things like medicine and food. There is no reason for anyone in the world to be starving. There is more than enough food for every man, woman and child in the world. Only two things stop it from happening. Greed and an unwillingness to share with others. Both of those are not Christian values. You may think I am wrong to judge America in saying it is not living up to its Christian duties. You are entitled to your opinion. However I invite you to pick up a Bible and read one chapter out of it. God tells how he will bless and curse nations that follow or turn their back on him. He explains it very clearly in the 28th Chapter of the Book of Deuteronomy. He explains all the blessings that will fall on a nation that follows him in the first part. Then in the second half he explains the curses that will fall on a nation that does not follow him. You read it and make your own judgement. If you are a Christian you will agree this nation has a long ways to go. However we are standing at a crossroads and it will be the decisions of the American people that will determine what happens to America.
I will close with one final thought. Most people believe that God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for being involved in homosexuality, but that was not the main reason. Ezekiel 16:48-50 say it all,
As I live, saith the Lord GOD, Sodom thy sister(speaking to Israel) hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters. 49Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. 50And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.
If you believe in God get on your knees and pray for America to wake up and turn around. If you do not believe in God make hay while the sun shines cause better days are coming, unfortunately not for you.
